For me completing the WPCTS Doula course was the synergy necessary for me to move forward as a more empowered, complete and balanced person. The depth and quality of the training provided has massively sped up my transformation to heal and grow professionally and personally. Being calm and quiet but still a strong and resilient presence in the birth room is not easy. I’m ‘a rescuer’ personality type which means I try to mother everyone! Omg its exhausting to think about how much interfering I’ve done in my life.
Now I’m attending births, thanks to the incredible personal development sections of the WPCTS doula course, I enjoy a more mindful response to labour as it unfolds. Being 100% present moment by moment. Instead of a reactionary response to possible triggers (possibly ramping up my mothering instincts! ) or minor setbacks when labour intensifies for clients. The course has helped me to create a healthier environment to just be in the moment. Something I know is super important when attending births. I’ve regularly have the joy of attending precipitate labours, where the clients have laboured at home, in under 3 hours. At my most recent birth, as always we’d created the perfect atmosphere for the natural birth hormones to flourish, both the parents were in total shock at how quickly birth can happen when the birth space is protected and respected! The mum was in such a heightened state as she entered transition (the birthing phase) due to the speed and intensity of her surges. Plus, the midwives hadn’t managed to arrive at this point. I felt so confident and present for this woman by supporting her and comforting her as her baby entered this world. I trusted that everything in that moment was as it should be and I reminded her that she was made for this and how beautiful she was in birth!
We all sat together afterwards gazing at their newborn baby, in complete awe of the profound experience we had just shared. This is why I love being a doula. Supporting women to have the birth experience that is right for them. Powerful, Empowering and Positive. And my training with WPCTS has given me the tools to do just that! Thank you to Nickita and her tribe for making my dream a reality.
Best job in THE world!
Love Dani
